Jan 29, 2017 Question: Q: Best OS for my late 2013 Mac Book Pro. Best OS for my late 2013 Mac Book Pro. MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Late 2013), 10, 10.5 Posted on Jan 28, 2017 8:46 PM. Reply I have this question too (206) I have this.
MacOS Mojave (10.14)
- The 27-Inch 'Late 2013' Aluminum iMac models use a case design that is effectively identical to the 'Late 2012' models before them, but the internals are different. Both lines have a glass front laminated directly to the LCD and an aluminum back that is thicker in the middle and tapers to a razor thin 5 mm edge.
- Feb 19, 2015 Nope. It won't install, because there's something in the firmware of every iMac that tells it what is the minimum OS it can run on. The first batch of late-2013 iMacs (including both of mine), when using internet recovery, would download ML. But the subsequent batches of the late-2013 iMacs could only download Mavericks via internet recovery.

MacOS High Sierra (10.13)
Apple announces compatibility of this OS with MacBooks andiMacsfrom 2009 or later. All MacBook Airs, MacBook Pros, Mac minis, and Mac Pros are accepted provided they are from 2010 or later. In short, if your Mac runs Sierra today, then it can handle High Sierra because Apple has not restricted the list of compatible Macs. On the other hand, some functions are expected to be more selective. This is already the case in Sierra with Handoff, unlocking with Apple Watch, or the Universal Clipboard, which only work on newer Macs.
